SEPTEMBER

September you were stunning! I loved your misty warm mornings, the changing of your beautiful colours and the apples dripping from the trees. I love when you suddenly decide to be brilliant sunshine and turn 23 degrees when it's 4 o'clock in the afternoon. The last good drying month when I can still watch my sheets blowing in the breeze. Making jams and drying flowers. Sweeping the chimneys and getting the house cozy and comfortable. Till next year then...

BLOG DESIGN

Hello lovelies,

Inspired earlier this summer by the Mollie Makes Blogging mag, I decided to give my blog a bit of an overhaul. I'm currently having it re-designed by Leanne Williamson (whom I hope isn't finding me too much of a fuss pants)! Anyway, it's looking great and I hope it will soon be ready! I've been saving a heap of posts for it, I can't wait to share them with you all! I'm currently working on my pages, as I'm changing the layout slightly. The new blog will have pages for recipes, interiors and creative ppl and bits n bobs.
I'm hoping to make it more interactive by interviewing and sharing creative people's homes and businesses, thus building an even bigger network of crafty like minded bloggers.
Anyway, I shall keep you all up to date. I'm very excited!

Hope you're all having a great weekend.

AUTUMN PALETTE

Hello,

My inspiration for my autumnal colour palette made up of gorgeous greens and beautiful shades of mauve is taken from my hydrangea in our garden. Such pretty fadded petals.

Hope you all have a great weekend

SOUTHWOLD

Hello lovelies,

Thought I'd share some snaps of my favourite place, Southwold! I've been coming here ever since I was born and now I'm in my thirties I'm considered a local! The guys in the bakery know how I take my coffee and probably what I'm going to order for breakfast, and I'm given the locals portions when I go to my secret little fish shack. I love to sit outside the hall opposite The 2 magpies bakery with my coffee and croissant, really early so no one is about except the people that live there and the people opening up their shops. Later in the day I'll nip into Adnams kitchen shop and pick up a nice bottle of wine for taking back to our old caravan, and get some scrummy picnic food from Black Olive. If the sun is shining then I may park myself outside The Crown with a cold glass of house white, before finishing up with my favourite vintage shop Cornucopia.
The next night we'll head to the docks and get fresh oysters and hot salty chips and watch the sunset and ever changing sky over Walberswick, bliss!

Do you visit Southwold, or maybe live here? What do you love most about spending time here?

Hello lovelies,

Autumn is finally here and everything is about to go earthy and rustic, but before we fully submerge ourselves in blankets and cutch up with hot chocolate I just wanted to share some of my favourite summer shots. It's been a very pink year so far 😉.

Hope your all having a good week!

SPRING PLANTING IN A VINTAGE TIN BATH.

Hello lovelies,

Gardening jobs for the week end: A couple of months ago I was lucky enough to stumble upon this delightful vintage tin bath for a snip at £13.00 Expect to pay up to £30.00 for one in good nick, as vintage gardening bits n bobs have really seen a price boom!
Anyway, it was late in the year, and I'd planted everything, so it sat quietly in a corner till now.
I think it will look lovely filled with early spring bulbs!

If you haven't got your spring bulbs already, don't panic! The garden centres are full of them.
My most favourite spring bulbs are Tulips, and the tulip named 'Angelique' is top of my spring list closely followed by 'Black Parrot'. But thats another post.
I wanted to stick to soft whites with a hint of powder blue for my tin bath planter.
When choosing your bulbs consider the hight of the flower, fragrance and most importantly.... the time of bloom! Some spring flowers start as early as Feb and some don't start till late May.
Ive gone for bulbs that flower from March to May, thus giving me a continuous burst of flowers.

When planting in containers, its so important to consider drainage. Make sure your planter or bath has got drainage holes, and I like to put a few broken pots in the bottom too. (please note, when planting grown plants, it is not necessary to do this, as the experts now think that this can cause root damage and restrict the plants growth).

Fill your planter with either bulb compost or if using a standard compost, mix in a good amount of grit.
Next tip.... Read the planting instructions! All bulbs vary on the depth of planting they require.
A marked dibber or trowel is helpful.
Consider the flowering height, as this will determine where you place them. Ive planted the tall tulips and daffs near the back and planted smaller bulbs near the front.

To finish add a layer of grit, this will help stop any weeds.
Now you've got a long wait... but it will be sooo worth it!

Have a good week end.

GORGEOUS ROSES

Hello lovelies.

The roses are still going strong in my garden. The blush pink is my favourite, it's named Brother Cadfael, and is from David Austin. My grandparents bought this for me when I was in my early twenties, so I just had to bring it with me to our new home. The huge yellow blooms were inherited with our cottage garden, they are beautiful but they have no scent. I only buy roses now for their scent. Actually nearly all my blooms I buy are for scent. I've even managed to lay my hands on some scented tulips that I will be planting this wkend. I will be doing a little post on spring planting this wkend too. As it's that time of year again in the UK, (no it's not early! If you haven't done so already, go and pick some beautiful bulbs). 😉
Hope your having a good week.

MISTY MORNINGS

Hello lovelies,

A gentle ramble. Summers kinda over but we haven't quite reached autumn yet, there must be a name for that mustn't there.... Maybe sumtumn, I don't know.
I love these In between times. For instance this morning when walking the dog, it was very misty and looked cold, but it was actually very warm. The leaves are just hinting that they will soon turn to rich golds, reds and coppers, and fall to the ground.
The blackberries are almost over but the rose hips are at their best. The hedgerows are full of ruby jewels ready to feed the birds.
As the mist starts to lift the colours are muted, the earth looks almost mauve and the green is such a rich but pale sage. My poor old dog has to wait patiently whilst I snap away on my phone. It feels great to be out, in the fields, just me and my hound.

GORGEOUS PHOTO APP

  Hello lovelies,

It's no secret that I'm a photo appaholic! I just love my photography. When using my DSLR I'm a bit of a purist and let the camera capture my subject as natural as poss. But... When snapping on my phone or tablet I go app crazy. So I thought I'd share my latest favourite photography app with you.
Rhonna designs is one of the most beautiful apps on the market! Featuring Rhonnas gorgeous work for you to add to your pics. There are a few filters to choose from and some very pretty frames. I just love the add on glitter stickers as I'm a bit of a magpie. There are gorgeous fonts and funky banners and typography. You can change the colours of your layers and play about with the whole thing. I just love it, and if you love pretty stickers, scrap booking and glitter, then buy this app lol.
Just type in Rhonna designs.

Hope you've all had a good start to the week.

UK SALVAGE

Hello,

Thought I'd show you all around my favourite salvage yard here in the UK. It's called UK Salvage and it's near Aldeburgh and Woodbridge in Suffolk. (They have a website too).
I've always loved a good yard, even when I was little. I could be found taging along behind my dad and grandad, just marvelling at all the cool stuff!
If your restoring an old property then it has a fabulous amount of fire places, doors, roof tiles and bathrooms. If your looking for something to make, then there are lots of things for imaginative people too!
We came away with a couple of short scaffold boards to use as shelves in our nearly finished bathroom. I'm not going to do anything to them, they are beautiful as is! What I really would of liked is the gypsy wagon!! But Mr C said no 😩 (very sad face). I must admit that I wasn't too disappointed as they actually restore/make gypsy wagons and shepherd huts, plus they are quite reasonable. So when I get that field, I'm having one, or two.... Shhhh our secret.

Hope everyone is having a lovely wkend.

CUP OF TEA AND SOME SHABBY STYLE.

Hello lovelies,

Thought we'd have a cuppa and a good read! I love it when the kids get home from school and I finish work. It's bags dumped, kettle on and grab a mag time.
I brought back this gorgeous french magazine from my hols. It's so beautiful I'm going to see if I can get it delivered to me in the uk. Anyhoo... Thought I'd share some of my fav bits.... It's called 'Shabby Style' and is published by Lotus publishing.

Hope you've all had a good start to the week.
