STYLING THE SEASONS. JUNE

JUNE.

#STYLINGTHESEASONS

Oh how I love the month of June!

I have so enjoyed styling this season and joining in with fellow blogger stylists!

Styling the seasons is hosted be the lovely Charlotte of Lotts & Lots Blog, and
Katy from Apartment Apothecary, and is a monthly style/cyber get together where anyone can join in by styling an area of their home and using the #stylingtheseasons tag!

My styling this month took me into my garden as June for me is the season to enjoy the outside and smell the roses!

I've styled a little area for a romantic evening where Mr C & I can sit and celebrate our wedding anniversary! 3 years... Go us!

Anyway, my rambling aside..... Please let it be all about the pic's!

JUNE IS ALL ABOUT THE ROSE.

The most beautiful bloom from delicate bud to faded charm- the rose.
I just adore them! And I've devoted the past ten years refining my collection which I'm thrilled to bits with! It's no secret that I am a huge fan of  +David Austin Roses and I just wanted to share some of my favourite snaps from this week, a couple are from our trip to Gardeners World Live where I always head straight to David Austin's stall to swoon over the little garden that they make each year.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

LAURA ASHLEY AW15 PRESS SHOW. Part 1

Focus on florals.

I was thrilled to bits to get an invite to the +Laura Ashley  Autumn/Winter press show earlier this week! I have been a massive Laura Ashley fan ever since I was little, and I first stepped into my aunts bedroom which had been decorated floor to ceiling in the sweet pea collection! No one surface had not been graced with gorgeous florals!

Anyway, moving on to part one of my press show posts... Focus on florals.

The sun finally made an appearance as I met up with fellow blogger  +tamsyn morgans  (she has the most amazing blog! check it out here).

Slightly nervous and very excited to be seeing the new collection, we arrived at 'The Music Rooms' in Mayfair to a swoon worthy scene!

There was so much gorgeousness in those rooms (I shall post more on each collection later) and there was no doubt to having stepped straight into the Laura Ashley catalogue!

I just wanted to share my favourites first! Florals! I'm so pleased to still see such a focus on their signature florals! And I am loving the new collection!

This cushion has gone straight to the top of my wish list!
The first thing i'm utterly thankful for are the beautiful watercolour florals in soft shades of pinks, lilacs and silvers.

I can't stand it when every change of the season things go too dark, and then we all end up wondering why we are so utterly depressed come the end of winter, when as if it isn't dark enough outside, we bring it indoors too.
No no no, not this season!

When autumn and winter arrive bring the flowers indoors with gorgeous wallpapers, pretty fabrics and lovely cushions.
Layer lots of gorgeous dusky shades in silks, cottons and velvets.
For extra sparkle add beautiful glass vases, mirrors, and lovely candles.

Team large prints with subtle pastel shades for a relaxed look.
I am really loving these two fabrics together!

I can't wait to show you more of the lovely new things!
The bakeware is awesome!

NAKED CAKES

As some of you know, Mr C and I are very keen bakers. The Mr is awesome at making bread, and I have been told that my bakes are truly scrumptious, so we've decided to see how far we can take doing the things we love, and we're applying for a stall at some farmers markets just to see if the above sentence is true.

Let me introduce you to the- Naked Cake Company.

I've been considering this idea for a while, as we have hosted pop-up teas in the garden of The Haven before, and I would like to do something a bit more!

As most of you know, I deal in vintage wares and design fabric, but my full time job is hairdressing, and my vintage salon is in the garden. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the job I have started to suffer with my back, and have to seriously consider giving it up.
I've been thinking of things that I can do to replace my long standing career, and I think I've found it!

My cakes are made using eggs from my hens and edible flowers from my garden, plus I use and make my own flower syrups.

My flavours are different from the norm! Try my Rose and Earl Grey sponge or my Lavender and Orange Polenta cake.

I'm priding my cakes on having locally sourced ingredients, the flower comes from a mill down the road, and my garden fruits and flowers are used.

I'm also working on my cocktail cakes.
Flavours will include Mojito, Strawberry daiquiri, and G&T.

My cakes will come completely un-decorated (hence the name), but I can supply seasonal flowers (un-edible) to adorn it with should you wish.

Im working on a sparkly new web site, but to get a sneak peak you can follow us on Instagram

We really hope we get accepted onto the farmers market waiting list!
We hope to also sell Mr C's bread, sugar syrups and other interesting bakes.
Wish us luck.

Trade orders will be most welcome.

*Please note the kitchen at The Haven has been awarded 4 stars by the food agency.
If you wish to make cakes at your home you must inform your local council.
You will also need to do a course in basic food hygiene.
If you are considering trading at a farmers market you will also need market traders insurance.
